Meetings with the darkness are a gateway to madness, unless one is in harmony with the Real. Those things are in direct and willful conflict with reality; and our normal fitra will be repelled by it. This is why it uses flattery to draw us in. Then it eats us alive, all the while complimenting us on how good we taste, and many will find a pitiful succor in these lies. There is rarely, if ever, anything useful to be gained by interacting with them.
But they are there. They were there before us and won't go away.
It's difficult to explain these things to those who have never had a glimpse past the veils, those to whom no part of the Mystery was ever revealed.
This, I think, is a great part of what led me to Islam. Beyond obvious practical considerations, I have little interest in the political aspect of Islam or those who oppose it. My entire agenda is, for want of a better term, "anti-political.” Those who see only the exterior will never comprehend what exists behind it. And even that will only hint at the Absolute, the Eternal.
Which brings me once again to Islam. At the end of the day, I'm only interested in Allah; I'm only interested in knowledge of an Absolute Reality. No political agenda (or political agenda disguised as religion: which defeats the purpose of religion) can ever hope to encompass or even define or acknowledge the existence of this. It cannot protect itself from being a mindless pawn for those dark forces that wait in this world while thinking themselves firmly in power. They're all chumps and slaves and think they're sitting on the thrones of kings.
